John-William-Nelson Corporate Management | UTAC Group

W. John Nelson, Ph.D.

John joined UTAC in October 2012 with more than 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.


From 2007 to 2012, John was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of ON Semiconductor. He oversaw the company's world-wide manufacturing, quality, world-class supply chain and information technology operations. Under his leadership, the company doubled its revenues to US$3 billion. He successfully streamlined its global manufacturing operations which included the consolidation of numerous front-end and back-end facilities and the integration of nine corporate acquisitions which involved complicated broad-scope production transfers.


From 2002 to 2007, John was the Chief Executive Officer of 1st Silicon, a wafer foundry in Malaysia. He successfully built up a diverse customer base and turned the business to breakeven. John was instrumental in selling the company to X-FAB Foundry.


From 1990 to 2002, John served in several executive positions in General Instrument/General Semiconductor, including Chief Operations Officer and President of the company's Asia-Pacific operations.


John's industry experience also includes key positions at Unitrode, Fairchild Semiconductor and Analog Devices.


John has a Bachelor of Science degree with honours and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland.

Ken-Rizvi Corporate Management | UTAC Group

Ken Rizvi

Ken joined UTAC in June 2018 from Isola Group where he served as its Chief Financial Officer overseeing both the finance and IT organizations. Ken has more than 20 years of experience in the technology industry and held senior finance positions with Micron and ON Semiconductor prior to Isola. He also served as an associate with Technology Crossover Ventures, a leading private equity and venture capital firm and as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley.


Ken holds an Executive MBA from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, United States and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Yale University.

asif-howdhury Corporate Management | UTAC Group

Asif R. Chowdhury

Asif joined UTAC in March 2014 and heads the group's product line and marketing function. He has more than 20 years of experience in managing business units, business development, process engineering, design, research and development, and strategic sourcing in the semiconductor industry and related fields. Prior to joining UTAC, Asif was working with Analog Devices Inc. and based in Wilmington, Massachusetts where he was in charge of its MEMS package development and assembly engineering, and strategic sourcing for assembly and test.


Asif holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University. He also has a Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Finance from Northeastern University.

k.thiveanathan Corporate Management | UTAC Group

K. Thiveanathan

K. Thiveanathan (Thivi) joined UTAC in July 2013 with more than 24 years of experience with reputable companies such as Coca-Cola, Goodyear Tyre Company, 1st Silicon and Honeywell. At Coca-Cola, Thivi guided organizational change programs when the company went through a major business turn-around with the loss of the F&N franchise, and thereafter pioneered the establishment of Coca-Cola’s bottling operations in Malaysia and Brunei. As 1st Silicon's HR Director, Thivi facilitated organizational restructuring, the re-alignment of business KPIs and subsequently facilitated its merger with X-Fab (Germany). Thivi was the winner of the "2006 - HR Leader Award" in Malaysia.


Thivi holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from National University of Malaysia and an MBA from Charles Sturt University, Australia.

Maxime-Kor Corporate Management | UTAC Group

Maxime Kor

Maxime joined UTAC in August 2004 with more than 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. His expertise is in the areas of Project Management and Equipment Engineering Development. Maxime has accumulated 14 years of experience in the company’s Test Operations and Program Management to date. His role has further expanded to drive top revenue growth, technology enabling, cost reduction and post mergers programs. Prior to joining UTAC, Maxime was the Regional Customer Support Manager at Delta Design Singapore.


Maxime holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Northumbria (Newcastle), UK.

Angus-Lam Corporate Management | UTAC Group

Angus Lam

Angus joined UTAC in 2010 with over 18 years of proven experience in the semiconductor industry. Prior to joining UTAC, Angus held a key leadership position in package and process development in ASAT and he continued to lead R&D team in UTAC DG after ASAT was acquired by UTAC. His expertise is in advance IC packaging technology development for both leadframe and substrate based packages. His current role now covers Research and Development worldwide.


Angus holds a Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honours) in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, both from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

regina-liew-chui-wan Corporate Management | UTAC Group

Regina Liew

Regina joined UTAC Singapore in January 2009 with more than 18 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. She has accumulated extensive experience in areas covering materials management, planning, procurement, customer service and supply chain in various companies including Elbiru Electronics, Creative Technology and Philips Singapore. Prior to joining UTAC, she was the senior vice president for corporate materials and supply chain management in STATS ChipPAC.


Regina holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from University of South Australia.

jeffrey-r-osmun Corporate Management | UTAC Group

Jeffrey R. Osmun

Jeffrey (Jeff) joined UTAC in January 2013 and leads the group's worldwide sales. He has more than 30 years of international experience working with sales, marketing, operations and technology organizations predominately in the semiconductor industry in a business-to-business consultative sales environment. Jeff has held executive leadership and/or worldwide sales & marketing positions in the semiconductor industry at STATS ChipPAC Ltd., ASAT Ltd., and Kyocera. He also led worldwide sales & marketing for military microelectronics firm White Electronic Designs (now a division of Mercury Systems). Just prior to joining UTAC, in a brief departure from the semiconductor industry, Jeff was a senior vice president of sales and marketing for Generated Materials Recovery, an environmental and sustainability services company.


Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University.

ken-shibata- Corporate Management | UTAC Group

Ken Shibata

Ken joined UTAC in November 2014 with more than 30 years of broad experience in the semiconductor industry. He heads Japan sales including Panasonic.


Prior to joining UTAC, Ken was the Sales Vice President of Amkor Technology Japan where he was instrumental in expanding Amkor's customer base and sales in Japan over the last 10 years. Ken started his assembly process engineer career in 1980 and served in several key management positions with Hitachi Semiconductor Europe GmbH and Hitachi Hokkai Semiconductor (now J-Devices Semiconductor Hakodate Center) from 1980 to 2000.


Ken holds a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Organic Chemistry from National Institute of Technology, Hakodate College.

Darren C. Smith

Darren joined UTAC in October 2014 with more than 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry spanning across Quality, Operations, Outsourcing, Process and; Equipment and Technology. Prior to joining UTAC, Darren held diverse key leadership positions, most recently as Head of Outsourced Manufacturing Operations at Philips Lumileds in the United States and Vice President of Quality and Customer Care, Worldwide. Darren was based in Singapore for two years when he was the Regional Zero Defect and Quality Director with Philips Lumileds.

nathapong-suthiwongsunthorn Corporate Management | UTAC Group

Nathapong Suthiwongsunthorn, Ph.D.

Nathapong joined UTAC in September 2009 with more than 20 years of proven experience in the semiconductor industry. His expertise is in the area of wafer level as well as advanced packaging where he holds more than 40 International patents and publications. Prior to joining UTAC, Nathapong held several key leadership positions in research and development at Schott, STATS ChipPAC and Infineon.


Nathapong graduated from Oxford Brookes University, England with Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering.

Tan-Hai-Chuan Corporate Management | UTAC Group

Tan Hai Chuan

Hai Chuan joined UTAC in January 2010 with more than 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. His expertise is in the area of manufacturing plants restructuring and turnaround. Hai Chuan heads the group’s Operations in Singapore, Greater China, Malaysia and Indonesia.


Prior to joining UTAC, Hai Chuan held several key leadership positions in Operations in Hewlett Packard and STATS ChipPAC.


Hai Chuan graduated with a BSc in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

janice Corporate Management | UTAC Group

Janice Wong

Janice joined UTAC in July 2015 and has years of corporate transactions and finance experience with a leading Singapore law firm as well as a top US law firm based in Singapore. Prior to joining UTAC, Janice accumulated in-house experience working for the Singapore office of a leading Japanese investment bank.


Janice holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the National University of Singapore and was called to Singapore Bar as well as the Roll of Solicitors of England and Wales.
