John joined UTAC in October 2012 with more than 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
From 2007 to 2012, John was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of ON Semiconductor. He oversaw the company’s world-wide manufacturing, quality, world-class supply chain and information technology operations. Under his leadership, the company doubled its revenues to US$3 billion. He successfully streamlined its global manufacturing operations which included the consolidation of numerous front-end and back-end facilities and the integration of nine corporate acquisitions which involved complicated broad-scope production transfers.
From 2002 to 2007, John was the Chief Executive Officer of 1st Silicon, a wafer foundry in Malaysia. He successfully built up a diverse customer base and turned the business to breakeven. John was instrumental in selling the company to X-FAB Foundry.
From 1990 to 2002, John served in several executive positions in General Instrument/General Semiconductor, including Chief Operations Officer and President of the company’s Asia-Pacific operations.
John’s industry experience also includes key positions at Unitrode, Fairchild Semiconductor and Analog Devices.
John has a Bachelor of Science degree with honours and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland.
Jonathan Chou

Jonathan joined UTAC in February 2021. He is a seasoned finance and operations executive with more than 30 years of leadership experience with Fortune 500 and Asia headquartered U.S. listed companies. He was involved with two Hong Kong mainboard IPO listings since 2010. Prior to joining UTAC, he spent 8 years in the semiconductor industry including the position of CFO of Kulicke & Soffa (Nasdaq: KLIC), a $2B plus market capitalization semiconductor packaging and electronic assembly solutions provider, from 2010 to 2018. Prior to Kulicke and Soffa, he was the CFO of Feihe International, a Sequoia Capital portfolio company where he helped lead the company to a successful listing on the Main Board of the New York Stock Exchange in 2009.
Earlier in his ascending career, Jonathan held a number of senior finance leadership positions with Fortune 500 companies, including Honeywell, Tyco ADT, Lucent Technologies (Bell Labs), and the Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG).
Jonathan holds a B.A. in Economics from the University at Buffalo and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
Asif R. Chowdhury

Asif joined UTAC in March 2014 and heads the group’s product line and marketing function. He has more than 20 years of experience in managing business units, business development, process engineering, design, research and development, and strategic sourcing in the semiconductor industry and related fields. Prior to joining UTAC, Asif was working with Analog Devices Inc. and based in Wilmington, Massachusetts where he was in charge of its MEMS package development and assembly engineering, and strategic sourcing for assembly and test.
Asif holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University. He also has a Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Finance from Northeastern University.
K. Thiveanathan

Chief Human Resource Officer
K. Thiveanathan (Thivi) joined UTAC in July 2013 with more than 24 years of experience with reputable companies such as Coca-Cola, Goodyear Tyre Company, 1st Silicon and Honeywell. At Coca-Cola, Thivi guided organizational change programs when the company went through a major business turn-around with the loss of the F&N franchise, and thereafter pioneered the establishment of Coca-Cola’s bottling operations in Malaysia and Brunei. As 1st Silicon’s HR Director, Thivi facilitated organizational restructuring, the re-alignment of business KPIs and subsequently facilitated its merger with X-Fab (Germany). Thivi was the winner of the “2006 – HR Leader Award” in Malaysia.
Thivi holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from National University of Malaysia and an MBA from Charles Sturt University, Australia.

IK joined UTAC in July 2019 and heads the group’s Research & Development Organization as Chief Technology Officer. He has 29 years of experience in Semiconductor Assembly and Test, particularly in R&D, New Product Introduction (NPI) to production ramp-up and IP management as well as leadership roles in new product/technology strategy and business planning. Prior to joining UTAC, IK was the Chief Technology Officer of JCET Group & Stats ChipPAC.
IK completed a doctoral program in Materials Science and Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He also holds a M.S in Solid State Physics and a B.S in Physics from the Chungnam National University, Korea. IK holds more than 180 patents granted by the US Patent & Trademark Office.

Regina joined UTAC Singapore in January 2009 with more than 18 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. She has accumulated extensive experience in areas covering materials management, planning, procurement, customer service and supply chain in various companies including Elbiru Electronics, Creative Technology and Philips Singapore. Prior to joining UTAC, she was the senior vice president for corporate materials and supply chain management in STATS ChipPAC.
Regina holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from University of South Australia.

Jonathan joined UTAC in December 2014 as the head of Europe Sales. He has more than 20 years of experience in strategic sales, technical program management, R&D and process engineering in the semiconductor industry. Prior to joining UTAC, Jonathan was working with STATS ChipPAC (prior to JCET acquisition) and Amkor.
Jonathan holds an Executive MBA in Management of Technology (MOT) from the EPFL (CH) and a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malta (UOM).
Tan Hai Chuan

Hai Chuan joined UTAC in January 2010 with more than 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. His expertise is in the area of manufacturing plants restructuring and turnaround. Hai Chuan heads the group’s Operations in Singapore, Greater China, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Prior to joining UTAC, Hai Chuan held several key leadership positions in Operations in Hewlett Packard and STATS ChipPAC.
Hai Chuan graduated with a BSc in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
Janice Wong

Janice joined UTAC in July 2015 and has years of corporate transactions and finance experience with a leading Singapore law firm as well as a top US law firm based in Singapore. Prior to joining UTAC, Janice accumulated in-house experience working for the Singapore office of a leading Japanese investment bank.
Janice holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the National University of Singapore and was called to Singapore Bar as well as the Roll of Solicitors of England and Wales.
Nathapong Suthiwongsunthorn, Ph.D.

Nathapong joined UTAC in September 2009 with more than 20 years of proven experience in the semiconductor industry. His expertise is in the area of wafer level as well as advanced packaging where he holds more than 40 International patents and publications. Prior to joining UTAC, Nathapong held several key leadership positions in research and development at Schott, STATS ChipPAC and Infineon.
Nathapong graduated from Oxford Brookes University, England with Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering.
Chee Yong Neo

Chee Yong joined UTAC in February 2013 as the Director of Corporate Finance. He has more than 25 years of extensive experience in the field of corporate finance, in the semiconductor industry. Prior to joining UTAC, Chee Yong was the Financial Controller of Advanced Micro Devices Singapore.
Chee Yong holds a Degree in Accountancy from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
